Illinois cancer patient sentenced to prison for ordering THC chocolates – Kev’s Best

An Illinois cancer patient suffering from stage 4 symptoms, such as nausea, has been sentenced to 4 years prison for purchasing THC-infused treats which he claims were bought for self-medication.

The man, 37-year-old Thomas Franzen, pleaded guilty to possessing over 5000 grams of marijuana in return for a 4-year prison sentence. In a news statement, prosecutors said that Franzen had “sought to sell” the THC chocolates, with Attorney David Camic saying that prosecutors had demonstrated “compassion” by dismissing more serious drug trafficking charges in light of his illness.

State Attorney for Kane Country Joe McMahon said that because of his illness his punishments was “reduced a 12-year mandatory minimum sentence to 4 years, of which he is required to serve only 2 years.”

“We did this in spite of evidence that proves that Mr. Franzen is a drug dealer,” McMahon added. “Evidence from state and federal investigators shows that he has purchased and sold marijuana products across North America.”

He also continued by saying “The marijuana-laced product found at Mr. Franzen’s home was not purchased from a medical marijuana business, and the amount he purchased far exceeds what would be used for personal consumption and is evidence that he is a drug dealer.”
