Took Me More Than Ten Years: A Storz & Bickel Volcano Hybrid Acquisition – Forbes

Storz & Bickel Utter Quality Through German Technology

Warren Bobrow: iPhone XR

I’ve had a number of pleasant connections in recent years surrounding the Storz & Bickel Volcano. This sturdy, stainless-steel machine is the finest vaporizer for cannabis and other herbal substances that money can buy- in my opinion. Each extended session that I utilized the classic Volcano in the past was unique and therefore deeply memorable. I’ve always loved the classic Volcano, but I’ve always balked at the price. They are not inexpensive and I could only use them in the company of others who could afford such utter luxury.

But what is it about expensive German technology and engineering that I find so beguiling over the course of my fifty-eight years? Would it be my classic Leica M8 camera that has served me since I traded in my Leica film cameras? The solid brass mechanics plunging headlong into the hand produced, finely polished optics? Perhaps. Or was it my passion for high-powered German automobiles? I’ve owned many of them from Mercedes-Benz’s to Porsches to BMW’s to VW’s to Audi’s. Would this be the logical path for my curiosity? It certainly wouldn’t hurt to be knowledgeable about solid German technology and their steadfast purpose for excellence in manufacturing? No, not at all. I found my price at Vapor.com. It made sense to buy it on the web, as opposed to my local head shop. First of all there is that pesky NJ tax on items like this. Even with my medical card I get no savings. And for all you medical users like myself, this is the real deal. The whole device is extremely technical. Your doctor will approve.

Storz & Bickel achieved their path in business by making the finest dry-herb vaporizer that I have yet discovered.

But getting back to the Volcano Hybrid that was about to enter my life. I was in San Francisco recently, giving a keynote speech at the Cannabis Drinks Expo. I happened upon the ultra-fine dispensary named SPARC, since I was there to interview the former head of cultivation at SPARC, Dr. Robert Flannery, for an article in Forbes Vices. Dr. Robb asked SPARC to set a place of honor for us in the consumption area in the dispensary. SPARC is located in a more authentic region, not a tourist part of San Francisco. If you are walking keep your eyes on the sidewalk in front of you, not on your phone, you’ll know why if you don’t heed my recommendation.

Once inside, past the heavily armed, but smiling security by the front door, the aura completely changed. I could have been sitting in the well-appointed lobby of a high-tech co-working space, or as it has been compared architecturally, an Apple computer store. The mood and the lighting is bright inside SPARC and since the table was set with a large reserved sign, I knew this was my place in the universe. At least for the next hour or so. Right in front of me, on the table, was a brand new Storz & Bickel Hybrid Volcano. It gleamed in the diffused light of SPARC. I unpacked the small portion of fine Biodynamic cannabis that I just purchased at the friendly counter and ground a small portion to enjoy in the warmly glowing on the table, Volcano Hybrid.

I had never seen anything so beautiful in this vernacular. My experiences with the volcano were limited over the past ten years or so to the classic Volcano. The classic is very similar in design to the Volcano Hybrid. You know the one with the balloons that fill with softly vaporized cannabis? This is very similar in appearance to a neophyte like myself, but it differs in a few ways that I will explain in a moment. The hot air fan that Storz & Bickel have invented is unlike any vaporizer I’ve owned to date. And full disclosure, I was so incredibly impressed by the Volcano Hybrid that I researched it deeper, saved my hard-earned money and finally after several months was able to afford one. The price is not inexpensive and not everyone will appreciate what goes into a machine that costs just under seven hundred dollars. But if you have a legitimate medical reason to own a Volcano Hybrid like I do, this machine is inexpensive by comparison to smoking flowers in a traditional manner. It is far more efficient than smoking a pipe or a bong. You will cut your consumption by 1/3 if not more by utilizing the Storz & Bickel Volcano Hybrid for medicating. Then there is the overall experience. Using a vaporizer is efficient, yes. But what a vaporizer does the best is capture the essence of the cannabis. The terpenes and aromatics are incredibly well defined when using the Volcano Hybrid. I felt no burning on my throat, nor did I worry about ashes on the couch, flames or much clean-up at all. The Volcano Hybrid works in efficiently and calmly. There is gentle purpose in the Volcano Hybrid.

One of the things that I liked the most about the Volcano Hybrid is the complete controllability on my iPhone. I could fine tune my sessions and even change the temperature during my sesh, even in mid-inhalation. The vapor is not overwhelming in force into your lungs, and as I mentioned earlier, it is completely temperature controlled. You can dial in any temperature that you want with absolute precision on your smartphone, either iPhone or Android, they both allow for infinite adjustability for your sesh. You can get rambunctiously stoned with the Volcano Hybrid. Take it slow at first. Don’t overdo it! These machines were produced for people with illness that supercede your minute recreational needs, so please utilize my Thai food principal. You wouldn’t start eating Thai food by asking for the chef to make it Thai Spicy would you? Cannabis is located in the same dichotomy. You can always smoke more, start with less especially with a Volcano Hybrid. I’d also start with a very low temperature. It’s important to note that you may not see a whole lot of vapor at a lower temperature. That is normal. When you turn up the temperature the thickness of the vapor increases. Again, like Thai food keep the temperature low at first so that you get used to the amount of medication slowly. I find that if you remove the entire assembly (the orange plastic and stainless steel section at the top) and give it a gentle tap on a table, then spin it in your hand is if you were swirling a glass of wine, then tapping it again you won’t need to open the entire top up while using it. Sort of difficult to explain, but it will make your sessions last longer, with greater efficiency. The Hybrid also has a softer sounding fan system, helpful when partners are sleeping nearby. It’s very quiet. The vapor is infinitely controllable as well from lung filling, massive clouds to gentle whispers emitting from what appears to be high above all other vaporizers on the market.

I may not use my Volcano Hybrid every day, but when I do use it the whip is my choice for a satisfying session. This plastic hose fits securely into the business end, just on top of the Volcano Hybrid. A few inhalations can get your really stoned faster than you can say Lufthansa! Save your money for the very best, you deserve it!
