CBD Cos. Fall Short On Testing And Labeling, Watchdog Says – Law360

Law360 (September 12, 2019, 7:25 PM EDT) — Nearly half the 40 cannabidiol companies surveyed by the nonprofit Center for Food Safety received failing or near-failing grades for contaminant testing and labeling, a finding that the watchdog group says underscores the lax oversight of the rapidly growing industry.

In a study published Wednesday, the center said that many companies producing CBD oils, lotions and other personal care products fell short on testing for pesticides, heavy metals and other contaminants and failed to clearly convey to consumers how their products are made. Only four of the companies received an “A” from the group.
