The drinks, also available at Snap Kitchen at 3600 Kirby Drive, are a collaboration with organic product brand MALK Bev Bar.

„MALK was founded out of the need for a healthy, organic and sustainable replacement to dairy,” MALK Bev Bar operations manager Abigail Diaz said in the release.

„Adding a product like CBD to our beverages follows in line with those key tenants for wellness and we look forward to helping pave the way for more mainstream integration of CBD within our daily lives.”

CBD, which stands for cannabidiol, is a naturally occurring chemical compound found in the cannabis plant. It does not produce the same „high” effect regular marijuana does.

What’s the thinking behind putting it in your coffee?

Caffeine combined with the calming effects of CBD work together to help one stay alert and relaxed, according to the release.

„We’re introducing CBD-infused beverages as a way to provide our customers with this new type of holistic wellness they are seeking,” Diaz said in the release.

„We are looking forward to adding this new element to the customer experience and enhancing their quality of life,” co-owner of Decatur Bar & Pop-Up Factory Adam Brackman added.
