The Canadian MC, 33, is partnering with pot production company Canopy Growth Corp., based in his hometown of Toronto, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“The opportunity to partner with a world-class company like Canopy Growth on a global scale is really exciting,” Drake said Thursday in a statement. “The idea of being able to build something special in an industry that is ever-growing has been inspiring. More Life and More Blessing.”
According to the company, More Life-branded products — named after the rapper’s 2017 project — will focus on “wellness, discovery and overall personal growth with the hope of facilitating connections and shared experiences across the globe.” Canopy Growth previously collaborated with Seth Rogen and writing partner Evan Goldberg to launch recreational marijuana brand, Houseplant.
“Drake’s perspective as a culture leader and entrepreneur combined with Canopy Growth’s breadth of cannabis knowledge will allow our new company to bring an unmatched cannabis experience to global markets,” said Canopy Growth CEO Mark Zekulin.
Drake took to social media on Wednesday to tease the new collaboration, handing out flowers to friends across Toronto. Local television host Dina Pugliese-Mirkovich posted a photo of her bouquet on Instagram, captioning the pic, “That one time when @champagnepapi sent me flowers! Ok….so his team is out and about spreading all kinds of positive vibes with flowers to unsuspecting peeps today…but still. Lol! He’s launching a new business venture this Thursday!!”
