Looking back, it is amazing how quickly people seemed to accept the idea that use of marijuana-derived substances couldn’t have any negative consequences for their health. Now that the Food and Drug Administration warned consumers that cannabidiol (CBD) “has the potential to harm you,” investors are having to rethink the prospects for cannabis companies.

The FDA sent warnings to 15 companies “for illegally selling various products containing cannabidiol.”

Cannabis stocks have had quite a rough time this year, with a 29% decline for the ETFMG Alternative Harvest ETF MJ, -0.41% following a 22% decline in 2018.
