Lincoln Cultivation Center Announces First Cannabis Harvest – WGLT News

Cresco Labs is announcing the first cannabis harvest from its expanded marijuana cultivation center in Logan County.

Cresco expanded its Lincoln facility to 224,000 square feet after adult-use recreational cannabis was legalized. The company estimates it controls about 25 percent of the state’s total cannabis market.

“Cresco Labs has worked tirelessly to bring additional capacity to the Illinois cannabis market. The beneficial changes in the medical law created a rapid increase in demand that has recently outpaced supply. With this first harvest out of the expanded Lincoln facility, we are thrilled to bring this additional capacity to the patients of Illinois and the consumers in the soon to launch adult-use program,” said Charlie Bachtell, Cresco Labs CEO and Co-founder in prepared remarks.

The company was granted state approval to begin early recreational cannabis growth at all five of its Illinois cultivation facilities on Oct. 6.

Revolution Global in Delavan is also currently expanding its footprint to grow more adult-use cannabis.

Dispensaries across the state are predicting there will be more demand than supply for smokable cannabis flower when recreational pot rolls out on Jan. 1. Long lines are expected at approved dispensaries across the state.
