Women-led CBD brand TribeTokes is announcing a new partnership this week that will bring its skincare line, TriBeauty, to the CBD Beauty Corner at Joel Warren’s Salon Project located on the 7th floor of Saks Fifth Avenue Flagship in NYC.
The brand was co-founded in 2015 by Investor and Serial Entrepreneur Degelis „Dege” Tufts and Influencer and Advocate Kymberly „KymB” Byrnes. They debuted the TriBeauty line last year, which includes a number of different products including an eye cream, collagen boosting serum, and Superfood Mask.
The mask, which retails for $60, is one of the stars of the line. The 6-in-one formulation plumps, oxygenates, hydrates, brightens, calms, and protects skin. Beyond CBD it also includes kale and spinach, as well as white clay.
I caught up with the founders to talk about why they decided to launch the beauty line, and what users might expect from a CBD-infused beauty product.
What made you want to launch TriBeauty?
DT: When we first started TribeTokes, before CBD was as ubiquitous as it is today, there was a major misperception that cannabinoids in topicals were meant to get you high, or that this was a method for absorbing it into your bloodstream. CBD actually has amazing benefits for your epidermis, in that it is calming, soothing and anti-inflammatory. Inflammatory skin issues are THE most common problem in dermatology, but also in issues we encounter in “everyday life” — such as puffy eyes, or acne flare ups. We wanted to take our knowledge and passion of plant science to create skincare collection that harnessed the power of CBD coupled with quality, natural ingredients.

KB: As a cannabis consumer, my eyes would get very dry from the smoke. I would rub them and they would burn from the products I was using. I started looking for an eye cream that had cbd and an all-natural formulation free of dehydrating & harsh chemicals…. Back in 2016, that product didn’t exist on the market. With the help of two amazing women named Rose, I formulated an all-natural CBD-infused eye cream, our first signature product in the collection, which quickly became a cult staple of our brand. TRIBEAUTY was born from Dege & I’s mission to make an entire line of clean CBD beauty products that made sense, changing the perception of the power of CBD in beauty products beyond marketing gimmicks.
Why create a CBD mask?
DT: CBD is powerfully nourishing to complexions plagued by redness, puffiness and inflammation, but to be clear we are not just slapping CBD into white clay! The ingredients of this mask are extremely thoughtful with unrivaled attention to detail – kale and spinach extract (which have Vitamin K, Lutein, Folate and Vitamin A), Lavender, CoQ10, Aloe Vera, Citric Acid, Evening Primrose, Jojoba, Green + White Tea, Olive, Rosemary and Wild Oranges. By giving skin premium natural ingredients, complexions perform better even days after use.

Is there a particular skin type or skin issue that the mask is most effective for?
DT: Our mask has a wide range of benefits: collagen production, killing bacteria in your pores, reducing fine lines/wrinkles, reducing acne scarring, reducing redness, roughness and puffiness, gently exfoliating, and evening out skin tone. Many of these things are happening below the surface on a cellular level, but the biggest high level feedback from consumers is that their skin feels much BRIGHTER, PLUMPER and SOFTER immediately after using the mask.
KB: Whether you are concerned about acne or anti-aging, CBD is amazing for all skin types. For someone that isn’t already using CBD in their beauty routine, what are some of the benefits of using products like your eye cream and facemask? How will results differ from using a non-CBD product?
DT: Anyone with redness, puffiness, inflammation, deflated, ultra dry or tricky combination skin, or acne should consider adding formulations with CBD to their beauty routine.
KB: CBD is a powerful antioxidant, anti-pollutant and anti-inflammatory. The CBD Eye Cream Rescue comes in handy after late nights as our potent infusion of high quality CBD is perfect for reducing puffiness quickly. The silky smooth penetration gives your eyes a glow as it brightens the skin. The mask is amazing to stimulate the blood flow on the facial skin but with the CBD you won’t worry about getting any redness or irritation. You may not see the difference right away but like other products and supplements we know it is protecting our skin from free radicals and pollution and overtime, there is a noticeable difference in complexions.
Is the hemp used in your beauty products the same as what you use in your vape pens?
DT: We use three different types of hemp-derived CBD in our skincare products depending on the product – CBD isolate, CBD distillate, and water-soluble CBD isolate. The full spectrum CBD distillate is the same as what we use in the vape pens. Some products, such as our forthcoming CBD Cucumber Eye Gel and CBD Rose + Goji toner, require water soluble CBD to mix correctly. We formulate each product depending on what makes sense and will be the most effective.

KB: Having a background in the hemp industry, opposed to other brands entering the CBD skincare space from the beauty industry, we have our supply chain in place and source our CBD from our strong relationships with premium farms and processors. We’re not just throwing any old CBD into a serum or mask. We’re formulating all-natural ingredients that work in harmony to create radiant complexions.
Any current plans to expand your CBD beauty line? If you were going to expand, what other products would you potentially be interested in adding to the lineup?
DT: Absolutely! In addition to our facemask, we just launched two new serums in the past quarter: TRIBEAUTY’s CBD Collagen Boosting Serum and TRIBEAUTY’s CBD Vitamin C + Ferulic Acid Super Serum. Our brand is always looking forward to what is next. In addition to a few other launches in our TRIBEAUTY line, we are currently formulating products designed specifically for men, and also sexual wellness. Stay tuned!
KB: As I turn 42 this year my skin care needs have started to change and let me tell you anti-aging is the #1 priority. We are super excited to launch a rose water toner which is great for balancing the microbiome of the skin (like our gut our skin has good and bad bacteria and flora). I am especially excited for the upcoming Hydrating Cucumber Eye Gel which brightens and tightens as it calms. We’re always exploring more ways to harness the power of CBD through beauty and wellness.
