Cannabis Dispensary Eyes Pete’s Piano Bar Site In Rosemont – Journal & Topics Newspapers Online

The former site of Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar in Rosemont’s entertainment district may soon become the location of the second dispensary in the village where cannabis products are sold.

Members of Rosemont’s Zoning Board of Appeals will meet on Tuesday, Dec. 1 to learn more about the plan and to make recommendations to the village’s board of trustees on issues concerning signage and a permit to operate. The meeting is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Earlier this year, cannabis dispensary operation EarthMed received village board approval to operate in a strip shopping center south of Touhy Avenue and west of Mannheim Road. The village had previously decided to allow two cannabis dispensaries to operate in Rosemont. State lawmakers last year gave the green light to Illinois municipalities to decide whether they want such operations in their communities.

PharmaCann, Inc. is seeking village permission. Plans call for the store to be named VeriLife, according to Mayor Brad Stephens.

Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar operated for only a short time near the AMC movie theater before it closed due to COVID-19. At the time, the village leased the land where the business operated. About two months ago the village sold the land to a private party which then negotiated an agreement for VeriLife to operate there. The building is privately-owned.
