Police seize marijuana, gun, THC cartridges from Lakewood home – Northwest Herald

A 26-year-old man is due in court Tuesday after police say they discovered more than 900 grams of THC cartridges, $60,000 cash and a handgun in a Lakewood home.

Carl D. Ciampanelli remained at the McHenry County jail Monday on a $150,000 bond. He is charged in a two-count criminal complaint with possession with intent to deliver more than 5,000 grams of marijuana and possession of more than 5,000 grams of marijuana.

His attorney, Chicago-based Mark Sutter, declined to comment on the charges Monday afternoon.

McHenry County sheriff’s deputies searched Ciampanelli’s home Friday in the 9000 block of Montrose Court, records show. There, officers discovered 21,318 grams of marijuana, 7,484 grams of marijuana wax, 24,076 grams of marijuana edibles and 982 grams of THC cartridges, court records show.

Police also discovered a .45-caliber handgun at the Lakewood home, according to court documents.

If convicted of the most serious charge, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, Ciampanelli could be sentenced to as many as 30 years in prison.

Prosecutors with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office have asked that Ciampanelli prove the source of any potential bond money before he is released from the McHenry County Jail, records show.
