Upgrades from the original Crafty include a 30% faster heat-up time, a new design for optimized grip, and “super boost” function where triple pressing the power button takes you to the max temperature of 410°F. There is also an app for Android users for further customization — but more on that later.
At the crux of the Crafty+’s stellar performance record is its patented hybrid heat exchanger. Basic operation:
- Charge fully before use using the USB cable.
- Unscrew cooling unit from the vaporizer by turning it 90 degrees counter-clockwise.
- Fill the chamber with ground flower up to the plastic rim — do not overfill.
- Screw the cooling unit onto the vaporizer by turning it back 90 degrees clockwise.
- Switch on vaporizer.
- Red LED light indicates device is heating up.
- Green LED means it’s ready for use.
- Inhale.
The Crafty+ App
While the Crafty+ arrives ready to go and shines in its implementation of easy-to-use one button controls, there is also a Storz & Bickel smartphone app available for Android users. While the app is definitely a cool feature, it’s not a must. The device works perfectly with its basic factory settings. Any further customization would simply be a matter of preference.
Is the Crafty+ worth it?
Coming in at $279, the Crafty+ does fall on the pricier end of the vaporizing spectrum. However, given its years-long warranty, reliable design, and a battery powerful enough to vape for 40 minutes on a full charge (up to five or six full sessions), makes this device totally worth it.
My favorite thing about the device is the simplicity of the design. Resembling binoculars, it has a super discreet, kind of spy gadget feel. In a backpack or bag of similar outdoorsy items, no one would peg this for a vaporizer.
