Harmonious CBD 2020 Review: Pros, Cons, Best Products – Healthline

Research on cannabidiol (CBD) is still emerging, but so far, the evidence suggests that CBD may help you sleep better, feel less anxious, and soothe aches and pains.

CBD won’t have the same effects for everyone. But if you’re interested in trying it out, it’s crucial to buy from a reputable company.

While CBD products are now easy to access, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) doesn’t regulate them the same way they do for drugs and supplements. This makes it even more challenging to sift through all the companies selling CBD.

This article takes an in-depth look at a CBD company called Harmonious CBD. We dig into its reputation, product quality, and top products.

Harmonious CBD was founded in 2018 and is based in Sparks, Nevada.

A quick search reveals that the company doesn’t currently have any FDA warning letters or recent lawsuits. The FDA sends out warning letters to companies with less-than-honest business practices.

CBD companies can get slapped with warning letters if they make false claims about their products, like promising that a product will cure a particular disease.

A warning letter is a giant red flag, so it’s a good sign if a company doesn’t have one.

Although Harmonious CBD has a Better Business Bureau (BBB) rating of A+, it’s not BBB accredited.

The Harmonious CBD website is a little thin on details, but here’s what we do know.

Hemp source and extraction methods

Each product description mentions organic hemp that the company claims comes from organic farms in Colorado.

Still, there’s not enough information to confirm U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) organic certification. That makes it tough to say whether the farm is certified or if it just follows organic practices.

The company does note that it uses a CO2 extraction process to extract its CBD. CO2 extraction is one of the two most common extraction methods. Unlike solvent-based extraction, it doesn’t use any harsh chemicals to remove the CBD from the hemp plant.

The company doesn’t appear to be third-party Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP) certified.

Third-party testing

Product labels are clearly visible on each product page. Every product page also includes photos of the certificate of analysis (COA). COAs are essentially lab results of a product’s ingredients.

COAs for Harmonious CBD are up to date and comprehensive. They give results for:

  • cannabinoid profile
  • microbials
  • heavy metals
  • pesticides
  • residual solvents
  • mycotoxins

There are some slight discrepancies in potency between the COAs and product labels, but they usually only vary by around 10 percent or less. That’s typical of most CBD products.

Lab testing for Harmonious CBD products is done by third-party ISO 17025-certified labs.

Harmonious CBD offers a variety of flavored CBD oils. It also sells CBD-infused skin salves, lip balms, unflavored CBD isolate, and a CBD oil for pets.

(There isn’t much research on CBD for pets, so it’s best to talk to your vet before giving your pet CBD.)

Most Harmonious CBD products contain full-spectrum CBD. Full-spectrum CBD contains all plant extracts from the cannabis plant, including tiny amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), a psychoactive cannabinoid.

These small amounts of THC aren’t likely to produce a “high,” but if you want to avoid THC altogether, opt for CBD isolate. An isolate is a pure form of CBD that contains zero THC.

Pricing in the Harmonious CBD product line is a lot higher than other CBD brands. Prices start around $65 and go up to over $100.

There are very few customer reviews on the Harmonious CBD website and elsewhere online. That said, the handful of reviews on the website are generally positive.

Finding the refund policy isn’t at all intuitive. There’s no easy-to-locate button or quick mention of the return process on any product page. You’ll need to do a manual search to bring it up.

The refund policy page we found says that you can return items within 30 days, but return shipping costs are your responsibility.

Pricing guide

  • $ = under $80

Harmonious CBD Hemp Oil Flower Extract, Mango

  • CBD type: Full-spectrum
  • CBD potency: 1,500 mg per 1-oz. bottle
  • COA: Available on product page

Price: $$$

Some evidence suggests that full-spectrum CBD products are more effective than isolates due to the entourage effect. This oil contains 1,500 mg of full-spectrum CBD with a mango flavoring. Each drop serving delivers about 2.54 mg of CBD.

Harmonious CBD doesn’t offer a huge selection of products, so it’s easy to narrow down the right choice for your needs.

First, decide whether you want to take a product by mouth or apply it to your skin. Topicals are ideal for aches and pains in a specific area on your body, like those due to arthritis.

However, CBD oil is a better choice for sleep issues and anxiety, since taking it under your tongue will allow it to affect your whole body.

Don’t forget to pick the right flavor if you’re opting for an oil. Harmonious CBD full-spectrum CBD oil is available in a couple of flavor options like mango and mint chocolate.

While the company offers some directions on how to dose its CBD products, we recommend starting with the smallest dose and working your way up. You can find out more information on dosing CBD here.

Dosing isn’t one-size-fits-all, so you might need to adjust over time. Starting with the smallest does is a good idea, especially if it’s your first time using CBD.

This rule applies to topicals, too. To use topical products, rub them onto your skin in the area you want to treat.

CBD products are pretty safe, research suggests. Generally, there’s no need to worry about unpleasant side effects, but they can happen. Some of the most common side effects of taking CBD include:

  • weight gain or loss
  • appetite changes
  • fatigue
  • diarrhea

Before you take CBD for the first time, we recommend having a chat with your doctor, especially if you’re taking supplements or any prescription medications. CBD may interact with certain drugs.

When taking CBD by mouth, watch what you’re eating. High fat meals can increase CBD concentrations in your blood, increasing your risk for experiencing side effects.

Before applying any kind of topical CBD product, do a patch test to check for adverse reactions. To do this, put a bit of the product on the inside of your wrist and wait 24 hours.

If you notice any irritation, redness, or itching, don’t apply it elsewhere on your body. Contact the company to ask about returns.

Harmonious CBD has a promising lineup of products, but the company could improve its transparency. Adding clear links to the return policy and including more details on how the company sources its hemp would be a great first step.

That said, Harmonious CBD is still a relative newcomer to the CBD market. The company does offer detailed, easy-to-access COAs, and the small number of product reviews available are mostly positive.

Is CBD Legal? Hemp-derived CBD products (with less than 0.3 percent THC) are legal on the federal level, but are still illegal under some state laws. Marijuana-derived CBD products are illegal on the federal level, but are legal under some state laws. Check your state’s laws and those of anywhere you travel. Keep in mind that nonprescription CBD products are not FDA-approved, and may be inaccurately labeled.
