How to look up legal hemp or cannabis grows in Oregon (corrected) – Mail Tribune

I’m trying to find out if a cannabis farm near me is legal and registered with the state. Is there a place where I can look it up before I call to report a neighbor?

— No name given, via phone message

An earlier version of this story printed Friday was wrong when we said that there’s no place to find industrial hemp grows registered in the state. We’re printing the corrected info in Sunday’s edition.

The Oregon Department of Agriculture keeps an online database of hemp grow sites — among other hemp licensees — that’s searchable by name, city, county or license type, according to the ODA Director’s Office.

You’ll find the database linked at at oda.direct/hemp and clicking “Search Issued Hemp Registrations.” We completely overlooked that link in our earlier report.

The ODA page also has complaint forms, among other resources.

We also reached out to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office — lead agency in the Jackson County Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Task Force or IMET — as well as the recently renamed Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission.

OLCC spokesman Mark Pettinger said in an email that authorized recreational grows are not publicly available online because “producer, processor and wholsaler licensee locations are exempt from disclosure under Oregon’s public record laws.”

If you know the farm’s name, however, you can find a list of approved recreational marijuana licensees through a link on the state’s recreational marijuana licensing page through a link at marijuana.oregon.gov.

OLCC director Steve Marks said last week in a Mail Tribune interview that his agency is helping the ODA inspect every registered hemp grow in Southern Oregon.

If you suspect an illegal grow, JCSO spokesman Aaron Lewis recommended calling the tip line for IMET and the multi-agency Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement task force at 541-618-1TIP (1847)

If you suspect an OLCC violation, call the OLCC complaint line at 503-872-5218, email marijuana@oregon.gov or see oregon.gov/olcc/pages/make-a-complaint.aspx
